What is this?
This class will be held on very calm moving waters of the Susquehanna river over two days. The Friday evening session will be near Marietta, Pa. starting at 5:00 PM for approximately 3 hours and Saturday morning session will be near Airville, Pa. starting at 9:00 AM for approximately 6 hours.
You will be getting wet and may possibly have to swim a short distance to shore. This is a challenge by choice class and you will not be forced to practice something you do not agree to do. Having safe fun while getting wet is the goal of this class.
After you register for the class, I will contact you to discuss your experience in and around waterways and kayaking equipment you would like to bring and/or borrow from the club. I will supply and transport for you a recommended kayak, paddle, life vest with whistle, spray skirt, helmet. You will be required to fully complete an ACA waiver prior to attending the first class session.
You will be required to bring to class on both days: At least 32oz water or sports drink(recommended) or other non-alcoholic drink, Swimwear (moisture wicking and long sleeve recommended), Fully closed footwear (water shoes or sneaker recommended. No- Crocs, sandals or flip flops). High SPF Sunscreen(the sun is intensified on the water),Medications you will need, snack and/or packed lunch.
Not required but recommended: Sunglasses with lanyard, waterproof camera, swim googles.
You will be away from your vehicle until the end of the class, so consider smaller quantities and spare car key in a large ziplock bag or drybag to pack/strap inside your kayak. You will want to leave in your vehicle, a towel and dry clothes/shoes. I will have my cellphone on me at all times during classes if needed.
